ok, so i have a old, like at least 15, female boa. she's small, about 5.5 feet and has a mid body scale count of 76, subcaudal 48. i didn't get a caudal count due to her last shed coming out in chunks. so far a definate bci, right? well the saddle count is 17.
so unless the saddle counts are really not that important then i have a cross? ![]() ![]()

Definitely BCI
Definitely OLD Being a female and under 6' at that age . . . . . . . . . . . Having several common pattern and colors of many Central Americans I would tend to believe pure Colombian is the last thing she is

Something about the shape of the head keeps poking me, but I can't quite wrap my mind around it.
FYI, I've had verifiable Colombians with low saddle counts, but they keyed out to be BCc. Maybe Gus or Marc will chime in. They're both nuts about BCc.

I posted in another forum about this boa.... It is very unusual..... The body shape screams BCC... notice how it has a tall oval shaped body...... bci have square blocky shaped bodies...... And something is very odd about the head...... I wish we had more close up views....
Like I said in the other forum..... It's very hard to make guesses... but for the sake of this discussion, it could possibly come from the integration zone between bcc and bci..... THis lies deep in Colombia and Venezuela..... where you have each subspecies kind of merge into one another...... Remember.... scientists long ago decided what makes a bcc and what makes a bci...... so these classifications are a mere illusion that we create to make us as humans feel like we understand something........ With that being said...... Remember we know very little about the real natural histroy of the boa constrictor..... and few people have seen the true variety this species exhibits..... Nonetheless that boa is a winner in my book...... a very unusual gem...... and honestly I see more bcc in this boa than bci........ just my .02... it has the rough look of an import.... where did it come from....??? we need some background |

here's a little better shot of her head. don't have much on her history though. ended up pretty much getting her from a bogus roommate that had her in his parents keeping for about ten years. she's definately an enigma though.

SHe's an Enigma alright..... maybe one of those Colombian old school imports..... I would say... without a doubt she's of South American descent

I want to say her jaw ain't wide enough at the neck, or that the head looks long for some reason. Like I said, I just can't wrap my mind around it. Could just be the grass in the over head shot making it look funny too.
In person, is her head shaped like this, or longer looking? ![]() Could very well be a cross or an old intergrade too. Get her humidity up a bit and you'll get a better shed to key out next time.

Looks like a cross between a Sonoran and a normal BCI to me.
