Anything i am missing, just let me know. Fel free to coin in the common names, and I'll update it. I know this stuff seems to change quite frequently. This info was derived from information found at EMBL reptile data base, ITIS U.S. and Canada, and various published literature.

Hello friends,
I know that the genus Candoia is like no other boa species in the world. They are unique and rare snakes that make hardy captives and need no special requirements. Candoia are very easy to keep and breed. In addition, certain subspecies have the chameleon-like ability to change colours and most have a calm, gentle disposition. |

I'd have to respectfully disagree on the "no special requirements" being as the neonates are difficult at best to get started on food and some never do switch over to rodents. Even if you do feed them their preferred diet of tiny fish, anoles, tree frogs and house geckos they still seem to be prone to unexplained bouts of going off feed for months at a time. Also, unlike ball pythons, candoias are known to starve themselves to death no matter what is offered.
While they are a wonderful and unique boa I wouldn't recommend them for the novice keeper. Rick, I got a hold of A Revision of the Bevelnosed Boas (Candoia Carinata Complex)(Reptilia Serpentes) it's from 2001 and the most up to date paper I know of. If you don't already have it & you'd like I can ask the person I got it from if I can pass it on or I can point you at her. |

Shoot, I barely have time for my critters with my job and all. No time at all for reading or studying anything at the moment. Even my website is incomplete. LOL
But, if you see a discrepancy, a correction or addition, feel free to LMK and I'll add it into the list.

I have a few other projects I need to get streamlined first but I'll get it done.
If you don't have a pm with the revised list & credits within a week or two break out a sharp pointy stick and remind me

I'll add them into the list at the top once I have the rest of the info. Right now I'm trying to catch up on some things from being in Cali for a week. Thanks for the help. Rick
